Historic engine visits Strathspey railway
A railway engine that was the first locomotive to exceed 100mph will be working at the Strathspey Railway, Aviemore throughout August.
Called the City of Truro, the locomotive made its record-breaking run in 1904 and was in service until 1931.
Now preserved by the National Railway Museum in York, the engine is in its second year of visiting heritage railways around the UK.
City of Truro will be working the trains to Boat of Garten and Broomhill during August. Although she is a 100mph-breaker she will certainly not be running at that speed on the Strathspey where the limit is a modest 25mph.
