Holler exhibition transforms US museum
A new survey exhibition of German artist Carsten Höller's work has transformed the New Museum in New York, US, into interactive,'participatory environments'.
At the heart of the exhibition is one of Höller's signature slide installations, a 102ft (31.1m) structure running from the fourth floor to the second floor through ceilings and floors.
The Höller exhibition also comprises the new Double Light Corner installation; architectural environments designed to disorientate; a sensory deprivation pool; and a mirrored carousel.
Riders on the mirrored carousel are provided with a different physical experience to that of a normal merry-go-round, while the Experience Corridor allows guests to take part in "simple but affecting tests on themselves".
A museum spokesperson said: "The exhibition will include work produced over the past eighteen years in an immersive, interactive installation choreographed in collaboration with the artist.
"Höller will actively engage the museum's architecture, with each of the three main gallery floors and lobby of the building presenting a focused selection of pieces that demonstrate different experiential dimensions of his work."
