Hong Kong's new City Gallery opens at Victoria Harbour waterfront

Hong Kong's new City Gallery has been officially unveiled in the former City Hall Annex Building on the Victoria Harbour waterfront following a two-year revamp and expansion.
International design firm Hypsos worked with MET Studio on creating the new attraction, which offers more than 3,200sq m (34,445sq ft) of exhibition space across five floors.
The City Gallery features major Hong Kong planning proposals and infrastructure projects and first opened in 2002, before closing in April 2009 in order to undergo a redevelopment.
Facilities include a multi-projection story that examines the Special Administrative Region's past, current and future developments, while the second floor houses a number of galleries.
On the first floor, the new City Gallery assesses the debate between urban development and heritage conservation in a theatre featuring seats from Hong Kong's Star ferries.
A Hypsos spokesperson said: "After almost two years of hard work, Hypsos is proud to have been an integral part of presenting Hong Kong's unique development, from the earliest colonial planning proposals to today's massive infrastructure projects.
"With its mountainous terrain and long coastlines, Hong Kong has had to rely on visionary and ambitious planning to create one of the world's most vibrant living environments."
