Hotel Indigo to open first Russian property
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a new franchise agreement with Vega Ltd, which will lead to the opening of Russia's first Hotel Indigo-branded property.
The 119-bedroom Hotel Indigo St Petersburg Tchaikovskiy is due to open in summer 2012 in a 101-year-old townhouse, which was previously occupied by an unbranded hotel.
A restaurant and a bar will also be included as part of the new property, which forms part of IHG's wider plans to open 100 hotels across Russia over the next nine years.
IHG vice president for development in Russia and CIS Aron Libinson said: "The phenomenal growth of this brand in the current economic climate shows that we have a winning formula with Hotel Indigo.
"We believe the demand for all our brands will continue to grow over the next 10 years as domestic and international travel increases across Russia."
