Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific award winners announced
When the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) takes place in Hong Kong in October, two personalities will be awarded for their contributions to the industry.
Ho Kwon Ping, chairman of the Banyan Tree Group, will receive HICAP’s innovation award for his unique contributions to the hotel investment industry. As well as being the head of the Banyan Tree Group, Ho is chairman of Singapore Management University and a board member of Singapore Airlines Limited.
HICAP founder Rob Stiles says:
“While Mr Ho’s contributions to the industry have been many, it is for the creation of a strong, unique Asian brand that so effectively captures the essence of the best of Asian hospitality and style that he has been voted by his peers as the recipient of this award.”
Paul Dubrule will receive a lifetime achievement award in recognition of his long involvement in the hospitality industry. Co-chairman and founder of Accor, Dubrule is also a co-founder of the World Travel and Tourism Council.
Announcing the award, Robert Hecker of Horwath Asia Pacific and co-chairman of HICAP praised Dubrale’s contribution to the industry.
“Paul Dubrale will receive this award for his role in the creation of what has become a major global and multi-faceted hospitality and travel industry company, and along the way introducing several new products to the industry’s progression. His strong interest in Asia has motivated the tremendous expansion of Accor throughout the region in a relatively short period of time.”
This is the second time that awards have been given at the HICAP conference. Last year, the inaugural award for innovation was given to Barry Sternlicht for his creation and execution of the W Hotel brand.
