Hotel growth continues for London
London continues to rank as one of Europe’s top city destinations, according to PKF’s new Hotel’s and Consultancy report – Country Trends 2007.
An analysis of the performance of 888 hotels across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa has revealed that hotel occupancy in the capital city grew by 7.7 per cent in 2006 with average rooms yield also rising by 15.9 per cent owing to increased room prices.
This trend contiued in the first three-quarters of 2007, despite a 0.5 per cent only increase in occupancy, as a result of a further 9 per cent boost in room rates.
Robert Barnard, PKF’s partner for hotels consultancy services, said: “London has continued to draw in the crowds because it has a well established tourist product with world class hotels, ‘must-see’ destinations and a programme of international events.
“It is geared up to delivering a great tourist experience.”
