Hotel operator secured for Wembley development
Londonewcastle, a Central London developer, has agreed terms with Millennium & Copthorne (M&C) Hotels to operate a hotel as part of its mixed-use development in Wembley.
The 20-year contract is subject to planning approval from Brent Council for the redevelopment of a 2.5-acre industrial unit opposite Wembley Stadium. The plans include 377,029 sq ft of housing, as well as a 189,000 sq ft, four-star 302-room hotel.
A spokesperson from Londonewcastle said the development, if successful, will benefit from the regeneration of Wembley City, led by Quintain Estates and Development with the aim of transforming the area into one of London's most vibrant areas.
The scheme, which is focused on 85-acres of land surrounding the new stadium, includes retail and residential space, as well as 487,000 sq ft of leisure and entertainment facilities including a 10-screen cinema and a 441-bed Hilton Hotel - the second on the site.
The approved plans also includes a new Wembley Park Boulevard - as long and as wide as Regent Street - lined with restaurants, cafés, bars, leisure facilities and shops. As well as major new public squares and spaces for arts, sports and cultural activities. The scheme is expected to be completed by 2010/11.
