Hounslow park regeneration plans move forward
Plans for the regeneration of Gunnersbury Park, West London, have taken a step forward following an agreement between two local authorities.
Hounslow and Ealing Councils have both resolved to appoint a team to work on a bid for Heritage Lottery Funding support towards the cost of the scheme. It is hoped that a bid will be prepared by November 2011, with Hounslow Council having committed Section 106 funding towards the Round One development costs.
Ealing Council has earmarked a total of £5m for the entire scheme, which aims to transform the park - designated as one of the most 'at risk' properties by English Heritage. Hounslow Council lead member for the environment Corinna Smart said: "Not acting on Gunnersbury soon would result in the significant loss of historic buildings on site, be detrimental to the landscape and would be impossible to reverse."
