Hove leisure centre to undergo £1.5m of urgent repair works
The King Alfred Leisure Centre in Hove, East Sussex, is to receive a £1.5m renovation.
Brighton & Hove City Council came to the decision after plans to demolish the centre and build a new £290m leisure and housing complex fell through.
The building needs urgent repairs to bring it up to scratch in terms of health and safety and a survey is now being carried out to specify exactly what works need to be carried out on the centre.
The larger project collapsed because its main funding source, ING Real Estate Developments, officially told the council in August that due to the current economic climate, it would withdraw from the scheme.
