The BHA is delighted to inform members of the 2009 Henry Stewart Briefing on How Much is My (That) Hotel Worth?

The conference will review important aspects of this sector focusing on the impact of these challenging times, which will be addressed by leading experts in the market.

The expert panel, chaired by Robert Chess of Christie & Co includes: Robert Barnard, PKF; Tim Beresford, Davis Langdon LLP; Richard Candey, DTZ; Graham Craggs, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels; Chris Field, Christie & Co; Philip Johnston, Savills; Jonathan Langston, TRI Hospitality Consulting; Stephen Richardson, Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality, EMEA; Andrew Shaw, Accor Hotels; Julian Troup, Colliers Robert Barry; and Bill Waite, AIB Corporate Banking who will cover a range of topics including:

  • Valuing in a thin market
  • Marriage values (it used to be 'split-up values'). Understanding all the potentially separable elements of a hotel. How they are valued, what are their values in the current market, what are the effects on values of a) keeping them together/ bringing them all together and b) keeping them separate/separating them
  • Refinancing current debt - who can, on what terms, with money from where? Consequences of currency movements for values and funding
  • Valuing development opportunities - the gulf between the 'on paper' valuations and 'in the market' activity - what happens in the future and over what time scale?
  • Making sense of yields and interest rates - what does it mean for predicting future values
  • The art of making profits from transferring to hotel use from some other planning status
  • Learning from what is actually happening in the market
  • Good news what positives are there out there?
  • Tax allowances and incentives
  • Putting it all together the bottom line question -what can be done to increase the value?
  • Hotel trading in a recession - is it different this time?
It will be an essential event for all those involved in independent, franchised and branded hoteliers, brokers, investors, funders, their agents and advisors.
