ICC announces Cricket World Cup format
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the 2015 Cricket World Cup is to comprise the 10 Full Member nations, after deciding upon the competition's format.
A meeting of the ICC's executive board in Mumbai, India, confirmed its previous decision - made in October 2010 - to reduce the size of the competition. The announcement, however, will mean that associate members such as Ireland and Holland will not have the opportunity to compete, having done so in the previous two events.
A qualification system will be introduced for the 2019 World Cup, while the ICC said that the next World Twenty20 competition will feature 16 teams.
