IHG confirms 'Greater China' expansion
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to unveil four new properties across the Greater China region within the next four years.
Two of the planned sites will open under the group's boutique Hotel Indigo brand in Taipei and Xiamen. The remaining two will open as Holiday Inn Express properties in Taipei and Hong Kong. The 173-room Hotel Indigo Taipei Xinyi and the 125-room Holiday Inn Express Taipei Xinyi are scheduled to open next year and are both owned by Taiwan-based Elements Innovation.
Meanwhile, the 127-room Hotel Indigo Xiamen Harbour View will also open next year, owned by Xiamen SK Development. With 300 rooms, Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong Mongkok will be the largest of the four to open in 2014 and is owned by Tai Hung Fai Enterprise, which already owns Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island.
IHG Greater China managing director Keith Barr said: "This expansion is a clear sign of our long term confidence in the Greater China market and we are honoured to be partnering with three cutting-edge real estate developers in their respective region."
