IHG to develop first hotel and spa in Syria
The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed an exclusive agreement with MAK Holdings, part of the Kuwaiti MA Kharafi Group, to develop an InterContinental hotel and spa in Syria.
The property will be the group’s first in Syria and will be located in the country’s capital, Damascus. With 370 bedrooms, there will be a large day spa with an incorporated health club.
Due for completion in 2010, the hotel and spa will be targeted at the luxury leisure traveller and will form part of an integrated development which will also include a shopping mall, cinema complex and office space.
There are currently 36 InterContinental Hotels across the Middle East and Africa, with a further 11 properties currently in the pipeline for development. Details: ihg.com
