IOC confirms new events for Sochi 2014
Six new events are to be included in the programme for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The sports that will be included are the ski half-pipe (men's and women's); luge team relay; figure skating team event; women's ski jumping; and biathlon mixed relay. It follows a study by the Olympic Programme Commission, which was presented to the IOC Executive Board in Acapulco, Mexico, last October.
IOC president Jacques Rogge said: "These are exciting, entertaining events that perfectly complement the existing events on the sports programme."
