Imperial War Museum celebrates first year visitor numbers
Imperial War Museum North is celebrating reaching a first year target of 300,000 visitors within six months of opening to the public.
After opening in July last year, the museum has achieved a total number of 460,000 visitors.
Highlights of the first year include the launch of a citizenship project, performances of the Brundibar Opera in the main exhibition space – performed in the Terzin concentration camp during the Second World War – and the launch of a learning resource CD – awarded best interactive at the 2003 Design Week Awards.
Jim Forrester, director, said the next year would be an exciting time of further development: “During 2003/4, the museum team will be addressing some of the concerns expressed by visitors over how to find their way around the museum and how to link up with the well-established services at Imperial War Museum, London.” Details: www.iwm.org.uk
