Improvements for Brecon Beacons trail
Work has been carried out to improve the Nant Llech Trail in Brecon Beacon National Park, South Wales, which has benefited from more than £20,000 investment.
New interpretative panels and audio boxes were installed as part of the scheme, which aims to upgrade the experience of visitors to one of South Wales' tallest waterfall - Henrhyd Falls. Tawe Uchaf Community Council (TUCC) secured £16,900 as part of the Community Welcome Scheme - one of 16 initiatives part-funded under the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013.
Work to improve the trail - running between Henrhyd Falls and the confluence of the River Tawe and Lech near Abercraf - also saw new steps and duck boarding at badly drained parts installed. The project was delivered alongside Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (BBNPA).
TUCC's David Thomas said: "The new interpretation panels and audio aids will help visitors and locals navigate their way around the Nant Llech Trail and Henrhyd Falls, and encourage them to learn more about this area's rich landscape and cultural heritage." BBNPA director of countryside and land management Julian Atkins added: "With work now complete, it means that people for many generations to come can really enjoy what Abercraf and the surrounding area has to offer."
