Al Othaim Investment and Real Estate Development Company has secured a site to operate an indoor snow attraction in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.

The company has signed a 15-year lease for a 10,693 (115,000sq ft) space at the Al Qasr mixed-use project in Riyadh, currently being developed by Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company.

The snow park will anchor the leisure zone at Al Qasr and will be the first of its kind in the country.

Due to open later this year, the attraction will offer an indoor ski slope, an ice sculpture park and other snow-related activities.

The 816,000sq m Al Qasr project comprises 317,500sq m of commercial and leisure space; 359,000sq m of residential buildings, designed to house 13,000 people; and 34,500sq m of office space and six mosques.

Yousef Al-Shalash, chair of Dar Al Arkan, said that Al Othaim's expertise in the amusement business and running attractions makes it a "perfect partner" for the project.

He said: "Signing this agreement with Al Othaim company, which stands as a major amusement provider, underlies Dar Al Arkan efforts to attract large companies to invest in Alqasr Mall, serve the inhabitants of Alqasr project and adjacent districts, and boost the ambitions of shoppers and visitors."
