Registered charity Aquaterra Leisure is making light work of teaching nearly 4,000 youngsters to swim each week in Islington and Bath & North East Somerset, after investing in innovative swimming lesson software at all seven pools.

The specialist technology by Cap2Solutions is called CoursePro. Endorsed by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), it uses intelligent software to automate complex processes and provide a bespoke swimming lesson experience.

Swimming teachers at Aquaterra pools now use state-of-the-art wireless devices to take registers and upload continuous assessment information whilst on the poolside.

Parents benefit from an easy-to-use home portal where they can track their child's progress, use flexible payment options, and receive communications. Parents have also been pleased to discover that the new system removes the need to queue at reception for re-enrolment and that their children are now able to progress through the swimming lesson stages as rapidly or as slowly as they wish.

Highbury Pool and Fitness Centre is the latest pool to benefit from the technology, with CoursePro introduced in October 2012.

Craig McIntyre, Active Health Manager at Aquaterra in Islington states: "In Islington alone we run nearly 12,000 swimming lessons a year and the new software is really helping parents stay engaged with their child's learning. We're delighted with the positive feedback we've received from parents."

Aquaterra has an excellent track record in providing high quality swimming lessons. This summer Aquaterra pools in Bath and North East Somerset Council were awarded the ASA's Swim 21 accreditation in recognition of the high quality of the Learn to Swim programmes, and a recent survey by the ASA found an impressive 86 per cent of Islington school children complete the Key Stage 2 swimming level.
