Interactive education at Sydney Aquarium
Sydney Aquarium has launched a series of exciting new interactive and educational adventures for the school holidays.
Kids, mums and dads can learn all about the underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef exhibit as a diver inside the tank answers questions from the audience using an underwater microphone system. Families can also get up close and personal with 'Aggro,' the Aquarium's resident three-metre saltwater crocodile, which stars in daily educational talks and even witness the 150-kilogram croc being fed by her keepers during the talks on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Plus visitors can hear all about different species of seals, their feeding habits and their playfulness in Sydney's only all-natural seal sanctuary, with talks held daily every half hour between 9.30am and 4pm. Sydney Aquarium CEO Kevin Bush said the new talks were a great way to educate and entertain kids.
"Our aquarists provide kids with an exciting experience while helping them learn a thing or two about the mysteries of the underwater world," Mr Bush said. Sydney Aquarium has also recently welcomed some new animals including two baby Zebra Sharks, Abbie and Matilda, which are slowly transforming into adult Leopard Sharks, losing their black and white stripes and gain brown and yellow Leopard spots.
Another animal has also been added to the list of dangerous creatures at the aquarium, with the introduction of new tropical Moray Eels. In the meantime, Sydney Aquarium is giving visitors the chance to win a family getaway each day throughout the school holidays, by purchasing a Discovery 2 pass providing entry to Sydney Aquarium and Sydney Wildlife World.
