Iowa university unveils revised sports plans
Iowa State University, US, has unveiled revised plans for an outdoor sports complex near the Towers residence halls, following concerns from local residents.
The RDG-designed facility, which would be located on green space to the east of its Wallace and Wilson halls, will accommodate Cyclone softball, soccer and athletics. Under the revised plans, the complex would be situated further south than originally intended and will also see more open space preserved for use by students and residents.
Warren Madden, the university's vice president for business and finance, told residents that a third option to site the complex at the Southwest Athletics Complex was not viable. "Developing the new sports complex at that site is substantially more expensive, results in fewer playing fields and requires the relocation of other university activities," he said.
The plans will go before a public meeting on 15 February.
