Irish greenway to mark National Trails Day
The 36km (22.4-mile) Green Loop Trail, which runs from Dublin City into County Kildare, will be opened to walkers and cyclists on 2 October to mark Ireland's National Trails Day.
Initially due to open for one day to celebrate the annual event, it is hoped that the trail could be made available on a permanent basis depending on public interest.
South Dublin, Fingal and Kildare County Councils have worked with Waterways Ireland; Dublin City Council; and the Office of Public Works on the scheme.
The Irish Heart Foundation and the Irish Sports Council are also involved.
