Islington Dance Academy steal the show at The Saturday Night Project
The first Saturday Night Project managed by Aquaterra Leisure got off to a great start on Saturday 25th February. Over 250 of Islington's young people took part in a fun evening of activities, sports and coached sessions at Sobell Leisure Centre, funded by Islington Giving.
Alexis Smith, event organiser from Sobell commented: "The highlight of the night was seeing the Islington Dance Academy in their first live performance. It was great to see all the effort and enthusiasm the girls put in to the performance and we hope to have them along as a regular feature of The Saturday Night Project."
Other highlights on the night included the first Saturday Night Project all-girl football tournament, watching FP Broz win the boys' football tournament and the extremely popular smoothie bike.
Damien Swan, Manager at Sobell, commented: "This successful project was established in response to a lack of activities available in the borough for 13 to 19 year olds at weekends and in particular Saturday evenings and we're excited to be creating those opportunities in partnership with funders Islington Giving."
The Saturday Night Project takes place on the last Saturday night of every month with the next event taking place on Saturday 31st March.
