Training provider Lifetime has teamed up with Nordic Walking UK to provide courses recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals.

Lifetime will offer a series of two-day intensive Nordic walking courses to enable instructors to lead walking groups safely and effectively.

Qualified instructors will be taught specific techniques and how to plan safe routes, deal with emergencies and lead walks with confidence.

Martin Christie, education director at Nordic Walking, said: “We aim to bring Nordic walking in line with fitness industry standards and ultimately for us to become a credible training supplier.”

Nordic walking originates from Finland, where it was first marketed as an everyday work out suitable for all ages in 1997.
