Italian heritage and artisanship at heart of Alessandro Agrati’s designs for luxury Lake Como hotel
Design Hotels’ latest property aims to offer an authentic and quintessential Italian experience having secured the services of designer Alessandro Agrati.
Filario Hotel & Residences is located by Lake Como, in Lezzeno, Italy, and features 21 rooms and apartments, each with their own private terrace.
In creating the hotel’s décor, Agrati implemented his signature style of “dressing” interiors with textiles and light and strong-tempered objects. Guestrooms have been designed to offer a cocoon-like feel while locally-sourced natural fabrics have been used for the linen curtains and other accessories.
Emphasis has also been placed on Italian heritage and artisanship, and the hotel has been furnished with custom-made pieces by local craftsmen in the neighbouring town of Cantù – which is considered a hub for high-end Italian design.
Filario Hotel & Residences features a modern cut stone façade and offers an infinity pool, private beach, gym with Technogym equipment, bespoke beauty treatments and a bistro.
The building, once the site of a small wire factory, took five years to build because of restrictions in place that protect the landscape and history of the region.
The hotel has worked with the local community to offer ‘authentic’ experiences for guests, such as moonlit fishing trips, private vineyard tours and visits to artisan cheese makers.
Lake Como native Alessandro Sironi is behind the project, having partnered with development company Nessi & Majocchi.
