John McGrath to assist Perth stadium scheme
South Perth MLA John McGrath has been appointed parliamentary secretary to assist with the development of a new AU$700m (£472.2m) stadium on Perth's Burswood Peninsula.
McGrath will work alongside Premier Colin Barnett, Western Australia's minister for state development, on planning the 60,000-seat venue - due for completion in 2018. Barnett said: "John McGrath has gained invaluable knowledge of stadium development through his time as a sports journalist and is familiar with the requirements of sporting organisations."
