John Treharne, founder of The Gym Group, and Jana Havrdová, president of the Czech Chamber of Fitness, are among four new members to have been elected onto the EuropeActive board.

Treharne and Havrdová will be joined by Veronica Telleschi, director of PR at Italian industry body ANIF, and by France Active's Anne Leroy on the board as new members.

The four were voted in during EuropeActive's 20th Annual General Assembly, which was held as an online event this week. They will replace four members of the board who are stepping down from their post – Nick Coutts, Angelo Desidera, Franck Hedin and Andreas Paulsen.

EuropeActive President David Stalker said: "We had the highest number of candidates ever for this year’s board election.

"It really speaks volumes about the visibility, proactivity and collective performance of EuropeActive’s team and board over the past year, which has been extraordinarily challenging for our industry.

"Furthermore, our membership has voted for gender balance and stronger representation of our national association partners, who have proven their essential importance to our sector during the pandemic.

"This means that we now have a stronger representation of associations and female leaders at our board than ever before, as well as a very strong operator, supplier and geographically cross-European representation.

"I'm thrilled for the creative power of this highly skilled new board of EuropeActive to get to work for the reopening, recovery and renewal of our sectoral ecosystem."
