Jumeirah Group names Maldives development
The Dubai-based Jumeirah Group has revealed that the name of its first resort currently under way in the Maldives - formerly Jumeirah Meradhoo - is to be Jumeirah Dhevanafushi.
An exclusive all-suite resort, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi is located on the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, 400 km south of Malé, and scheduled to open in Q1 2011. The resort comprises 22 island villas, as well as a water village of 16 ocean villas called the Hermitage Collection, which are separated from the main island.
The villas, named Revives and Sanctuaries and with bedroom design inspired by traditional Maldivian architecture, range from 200sq m to 600sq m (2,153sq ft to 6,458sq ft) in size and come with sea views, direct access to the beach and 24 hour butler service. The resort offers three restaurants - Azara, Mumayaz and Johara - and a bar; a 70sq m (753sq ft) over-water gym; a yoga pavillion; and a 1,700sq m (18,300sq ft) Talise Spa featuring three over-water treatment rooms, a hammam, sauna and steam room.
Jumeiriah has a second property also under way in the Maldives; Jumeirah Vittaveli is situated in the South Malé Atoll and scheduled to open in March this year. Image: Jumeirah Dhevanafushi
