Justice scheme to benefit Scottish basketball
Money confiscated from criminals is to be used to offer free basketball sessions to young people in Scotland as part of the CashBack for Communities initiative.
Scottish justice secretary Kenny MacAskill confirmed that Scottish Sports Futures and basketballscotland will see existing CashBack funding increased. Scottish Sports Futures will receive £1.95m over the next three years, while £700,000 is to be awarded to basketballscotland over the same period.
MacAskill said: "Since we launched CashBack in 2007, almost £26m seized under proceeds of crime legislation has been reinvested in projects to help Scotland's communities."
