KHI acquires Lonrho Hotels Kenya
Saudi Arabian-based Kingdom Hotel Investments (KHI) has teamed up with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts to take over the Lonrho Hotels Kenya portfolio.
Lonrho’s five properties total more than 400 rooms and include the 167-room Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi and the Mount Kenya Safari Club.
Fairmont will take over the management of the portfolio and plans an extensive refurbishment programme.
Sarmad Zok, KHI’s chief executive, said: “A US$25m (£13.7m, E19.8m) renovation programme will be initiated immediately in order to upgrade the hotels to Fairmont’s standards.”
