Karkloof Spa opens in South Africa
A new destination spa has launched near Pietermaritzburg in the KwaZulu-Natal area of South Africa.
The Karkloof Spa is situated within a 3,500 hectare (8,648 acre) game farm in the Karkloof Valley. Accommodation comprises 16 villa-style lodges and an eight-tent camp.
Designed as a wellness sanctuary, the environmentally responsible Karkloof Spa has 17 therapy rooms and is owned by Fred and Jenny Wörner, managed by Salome Wilke.
Each treatment room boasts views over the native bushland and the spa is divided into four areas according to treatment modalities – Wetlands, Savannah, Forest and Thai Sala.
Other facilities include manicure and pedicure spaces, a rasul, a flotation tank, Roman and Kniepp pools, a sauna and an outdoor whirlpool. Treatments use Pevonia, Lillian Terry and Spa Ritual products.
The game farm at Karkloof Spa breeds a number of animals, including buffalo, black and white rhino, antelope species, zebra, giraffe and wildebeast. There are also five waterfalls and three rivers located on the property. Details: karkloof.com
