Keep Fit Association Moved to Dance to celebrate 50th birthday
The Keep Fit Association (KFA) is to celebrate 50 years of keeping the nation fit through movement, exercise and dance with a performance in London next month.
The show, Moved to Dance, is a single performance and will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on 6 May 2006 at 2.30pm.
The first ever fitness craze began in 1926, led by Sunderland physiotherapist Norah Reed, who started classes to teach women to breath, stand, move and dance to music, all for just 2d!
Classes spread rapidly and by 1956, with the help of the then English Sports Council, the newly-formed Keep Fit Association became a national governing body.
Performers aged from 4 to 70+ will descend on the Royal Albert Hall to demonstrate a varied programme of movement and dance. Details: www.keepfit.org.uk
