Kerzner to build casino at Millennium Dome
Resort casino developer, Kerzner International, is close to securing contracts to develop three new sites in the UK – including the Millennium Dome.
The company announced that it had secured a binding agreement with the owner of the Dome, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), to develop a $350m (£189m) resort casino and hotel at the site.
The casino will be part of AEG’s plans to create a 20,000-seat arena within the Dome structure.
Other developments for Kerzner include the construction of a $500m casino at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) and a $350m (£189m) casino resort at Manchester Sportcity.
All projects depend on the outcome of the proposed changes in the UK gaming laws, and if successful, are expected to be completed by 2007.
Kerzner International operates the 2,317-room Atlantis resort in the Bahamas and owns the One&Only chain of nine luxury resorts. Details: www.kerzner.com
