Konami opens concept club in Japan
Konami Sports & Life has opened a new concept health club in Sapporo, Japan, which purports to be the country’s first ‘self-serve’ health club.
Designed to provide easier access to exercise classes, the club offers studio programmes based on Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) video game.
Instead of employing instructors to run the classes, Groove Motion DDR is played on a big screen to show members the correct steps and movements.
Staff are available on-site, however, for member support and security.
The club also offers a ladies-only relaxation room.
Konami Sports Clubs, which operates more than 200 facilities, is the largest health club operator in Japan.
