LA Fitness programme in its prime
Health club chain, LA Fitness, has won an award for its programme for over-55s.
LA Prime Time, a national programme designed to both attract and retain older members was the winner in the Business for Age category at the Living Legend Awards run by Help the Aged.
Dr David Bull, presenting the award, said: “LA Fitness is way ahead of the field when it comes to enriching the lives of older people.”
The chain started the programme in one club in June 2000 and since than it has expanded to be offered at 44 of LA Fitness’s 64 UK clubs.
LA Prime Time sessions run five days a week and include exercises from Yoga, Tai Chi and line dancing to aqua aerobics and strength training.
They also offer a variety of social activities such as quiz nights and bingo and lessons in using the internet and text messaging.
Geoff Pride, LA Fitness’s new business development manager, who founded Prime Time, said: “What we offer at LA Fitness is a unique blend of exercise and well being, with the opportunity to meet like minded people.”
Last year the programme received the Keiser Gold Standard for Excellence in Senior Programming for the third year running.
