LTA recognition for Wirral sports facility
Wirral Tennis Centre has become one of around 100 community facilities across the UK to be awarded 'Beacon' status by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
The national governing body has awarded the centre the accreditation for its role in offering accessibly and affordable tennis facilities to members of the local community.
Beacon status will also allow Wirral Tennis Centre to access additional funding streams, as well as increased promotion and endorsement from the LTA.
Wirral Council cabinet member for culture Chris Meaden said: "We are committed to developing the range of sports activities available to all residents in Wirral."
Earlier this week, it was revealed that another North West England facility - Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Complex in Warrington - had also received Beacon status.
