Latest phase of Welsh coastal path unveiled
Welsh environment minister Jane Davidson has officially launched the latest phase of the Wales Coast Path between Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
Although the latest section is just 0.83km (0.5 miles), it provides the missing link between the Ceredigion Coast Path and the Pembrokeshire Path national Trail. It will mean that a 250-mile (402km) walking route is now available along the Welsh coast, from Amroth, Pembrokeshire, to Ynyslas, Ceredigion.
The latest phase forms part of the Welsh Assembly Government's commitment to creating a continuous 850-mile (1,368km) path around the Welsh coastline by summer 2012. Davidson said: "I am delighted to open this important link path to enable people to enjoy 250 uninterrupted miles of beautiful scenery.
"The Coast Path will attract more visitors to this stunning coastline and in doing so will provide a real boost to the local economy." Image: Jane Davidson (centre) helps unveil the latest section of the Wales Coast Path
