League approves Notts County owners
Notts County Football Club (NCFC) has welcomed the Football League's ruling that the club's new owners have complied with the Fit and Proper Persons Test.
League officials had asked the club to provide further information relating to the the Munto Finance consortium, which is backed by Middle East-based Qadbak, following media speculation into the owners of the club. However, a spokesperson for the Football League said: "This structure is complicated, and features both offshore entities and discretionary trusts. Together with the initial hesitation of the club's ultimate owners to identify themselves, this made for a lengthy and at times difficult process.
"However, following greater co-operation from the club more recently, The League is now in a position to confirm that it is in possession of the appropriate details for those individuals that exercise control over the club." NCFC executive chair Peter Trembling added: "There has been considerable ill-informed conjecture about our ownership structure. The ratification by the Football League ensures we can now move forward and focus all our energies on the business of football."
