Leeu Collection expands European footprint with historic Florence property
Boutique luxury hospitality brand Leeu Collection has acquired the former Collegio Alla Querce in Florence, Italy – the South African brand’s second European location.
Located in Via della Piazzuola, the complex covers a total of 13,400sq m plus 15,500sq m of park, which will be transformed into a 70-bedroom luxury hotel and gardens, set to open in 2021.
This is the latest acquisition of founder Analjit Singh, father of Veer Singh, who owns the Vana destination spa in India. Leeu Collection operates three five-star boutique properties in South Africa along with a new spa, as well as a country retreat in England’s Lake District.
Singh plans to redevelop and renovate the property, giving it the “Leeu touch,” and adding meeting and event spaces, restaurants and a spa.
“We will remain true to the pillars of our brand: inspiring art collections, distinct architecture and design, manicured and detailed landscaping that reflects respect for the environment, superlative service with attention to the smallest detail, spectacular views, and an outstanding food and wine experience,” said Singh.
