Leisure centre topped out in Nottingham
Nottingham's new £9m Victoria Leisure Centre remains on course to open in spring 2012 after the scheme reached the topping out stage - four months after work first started.
The project is being led by the Local Education Partnership, which comprises Nottingham City Council (NCC) and inspiredspaces - a company set up by Carillion. Designed by London-based architects Levitate, the rebuilding of Victoria Leisure Centre is part of NCC's wider £32m investment in transforming local provision.
Facilities will include a six-lane, 25m family swimming pool with a separate children's pool and fun splash play area, along with fitness and health suites. Capita Symonds is also involved with the scheme, which is also linked to the redevelopment of the adjacent Sneinton Square - part of the £6.8m NCC-led Connecting Eastside initiative.
