Italian children’s theme park Leolandia is set to open the largest area it has ever created exclusively for a character, covering over 10,000sq m (107,639sq ft).

Masha and the Bear’s Woodland, a themed area based on the popular Russian cartoon Masha and the Bear, will house seven attractions for adults and children.

The theme park's in-house team designed the whole area's landscape and took care of the technical aspects, scenography and theming.

Vroom, a rollercoaster designed for children, is a Preston & Barbieri ride that was also themed internally. A company spokesperson told Attractions Management it has been adapted to fit children from 90cm upwards in a dedicated project between Leolandia and Preston & Barbieri.

Themed shops and a train carriage-inspired refreshment point will also be available to children and their families.

The area will also include a landscaped courtyard replete with a water playground, garden and pond, playground equipped with towers and bridges, children’s theatre showing an interactive video called ‘Sing and dance with Masha and the Bear’ and green areas for sitting.

Giuseppe Ira, president of Leolandia, said: “I am very pleased to present the largest themed area of the park. It is a significant investment leading to the creation of a themed area, which is one of a kind.”

Dmitri Loveiko, CEO of the Masha and the Bear franchise added: “We are very glad that this project is aimed at families and addresses to both children and their parents. The appreciation the park shows to our brand makes us very proud.”
