Our aim is to become the best in class for premium, city centre spas.
– Jason Carruthers, managing director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland

Leonardo Hotels has launched a new spa concept, Rena, at five properties in the UK.

The new brand will replace existing spa brands in selected properties from the hotel operator’s UK portfolio, such as London City, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s and Holborn and Southampton Grand Harbour.

The concept for Rena Spa was designed in-house and will be managed by Leonardo Hotels, a hotel chain which is part of the Jurys Inn hotel group.

Rena spas are open to guests and non-residents and offer treatments from the French beauty brand, Caudalie. Leonardo already had an existing partnership with the brand, which it hopes to build on through Rena’s launch. Facilities will include heated pools, steamrooms and spa pools.

Jason Carruthers, managing director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, told Spa Business the company has big ambitions for the brand.

"Our aim is to become the best in class for premium, city centre spas," he said.

Carruthers added that retail will make up an important part of the offering at Rena Spa, which led to the choice of Caudalie as partner.

Using the strapline ‘Relax, Rejuvenate, Revive’ Rena has been designed to create a retreat from the bustle of city life and visitors and guests will be encouraged to take time for themselves.

Leonardo’s Midland Hotel in Manchester will launch its Rena spa in November, also offering treatments designed for those recovering from cancer. The treatments will be delivered using the Wellness range by Germaine De Cappuccini and are intended to neutralise the harsh effects of cancer treatment and soothe patients both physically and mentally.

In a statement, Leonardo Hotels said there are currently no plans to roll out Rena to any other spa yet.

“The prime, city-centre locations of Rena Spas mean that the outlets are accessible to both guests and visitors alike,” the group stated.

Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland operates 37 hotels under the Jurys Inn brand and 15 hotels under the Leonardo brand – 47 in the UK and four in Ireland.
