Lewisham could get its own Cinema following an online petition
Lewisham and Waltham Forest are the only two London boroughs without a cinema in their boundaries, but following an online petition by members of Hither Green Hall that could be set to change.
Members of the arts centre are pushing for a cinema to be opened at the site of an about to be disused leisure centre.
Interest in the proposed complex has peaked with both Michael Harris, Labour councillor for Lewisham Central and Curzon Cinemas - who run art house cinemas across the capital stating their interest.
The council had said in an earlier statement that they preferred plans for the site to be redeveloped into housing, but Harris said that the plans had now been amended to include a cinema.
