Lighthouse Building project gets go-ahead
A £13m overhaul of the Grade II-listed Lighthouse Building in Kings Cross, London, has been granted planning permission by Camden Council.
Designed by Latitude Architects, the plans include retaining the property's listed facade and creating a five-storey space for restaurants, cafés, retail and office units. Also known as the Oysterhouse, the building has been empty since 1990 and the developers UK Real Estate and The London Planning Practice have been negotiating with English Heritage and Camden Council for more than 18 months on the designs. Now approved, the project is expected to be finished by June 2012.
