Liverpool cruise facility plans move forward
Cruise liners could be able start and stop in Liverpool from late May after the local authority approved a plan that will push forward the city's bid to become more than just a port of call.
Liverpool City Council (LCC) is to build a temporary centre on land owned by Peel Ports - subject to planning approval - to accommodate check-in, baggage and customs facilities.
The council has also agreed to adhere to an independent ruling that will determine how much public funding it will have to repay from the construction of its existing terminal building.
A £9.2m government grant was used to help fund the facility on the basis that it was to be a "call-in" facility, with a recent Department for Transport consultation looking into the city's plans.
