Liverpool rule out ground share
Liverpool Football Club's chief executive, Rick Parry, has ruled out any possibility of a ground share with city rivals Everton.
Parry insisted that the club would continue to push forward with plans to build a new £350m stadium in Stanley Park, despite putting the project on hold due to the current economic climate. Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme on 5 October, Parry said: "Ground share is not being considered. With the financial markets in the turmoil as they are, any major construction project at this time is difficult, it is risky."
"I do not see any change in direction or any change in plans, and ground share is not back on the agenda. The project makes long term sense, it is the supply of money that is an issue that will correct itself in time." It follows the news that Everton's plans to relocate to Kirkby have also hit a snag. The £400m development, led by supermarket Tesco, was called in for a public inquiry last month by communities secretary, Hazel Blears.
