LivingWell highlights men’s health issues
LivingWell has teamed up with the Men’s Health Forum – a national charity established to highlight health issues that affect men – to support National Men’s Health Week.
Running from 9-15 June, LivingWell Premier clubs around the country will be distributing a free “toolbox” to both members and the local community. The toolbox has been designed and produced by the charity to offer men step-by-step advice on maintaining good health.
LivingWell says that to encourage men to pay more attention to their health rather than their car, the Men’s Health Week toolbox includes a mini Haynes “Owners” Workshop Manual written by Dr Ian Banks, president of the Men’s Health Forum. Focusing on sexual health, including prostate and testicular and general sexual well being, the manual also emphasises the importance of keeping fit and weight management.
Michael Clark, LivingWell’s Health and Fitness director, said: “At LivingWell we are passionate about helping our members enjoy a healthier lifestyle.”
The pack also includes information about health advice services including QUIT and Brook as well as a condom and a LivingWell guest pass.
As well as distributing the toolbox, 85 LivingWell clubs around the country will be offering a free one-day trial plus discounts on skincare treatments. Clubs will also be taking part in activities locally with other medical advisory organisations to offer advice to men on keeping healthy.
President of the Men’s Health Forum, Dr Ian Banks, said: “As well as seeking regular medical attention and keeping an eye on their bodies, men need to maintain a certain level of health to fight off infection and keep in good shape.
“But it’s not just about working out in the gym to gain muscle and lose weight – exercise and well-being has important psychological benefits.” Details: www.livingwell.com
