LivingWell launches medical service
LivingWell has launched a new medical advisory service, called LivingWell Medical.
All prospective club members have to complete an Activity Readiness Questionnaire (ARQ), which, previously, could lead to their needing a referral letter from their GP. Under the new scheme, however, LivingWell has employed a registered general nurse as medical advisor to 'act as an interface in the joining process'.
Any member who now answers positively to any of the questions on the ARQ form will have their form sent directly to the medical advisor who will contact the potential member and then if necessary, seek advice from their GP.This information will then be used by LivingWell to build a tailored exercise programme taking their needs into account.
Michael Clark, health and fitness director, said: 'It's hugely important that LivingWell has easy access to quality information in order for us to tailor programmes for members who have specific exercise needs.'However, obtaining this information can often be a challenge, resulting in delays and inconvenience for the consumer and high additional costs for the club.'
If the service is successful, LivingWell may consider extending it to members seeking general health, exercise and injury advice.
