London: 'Greatest Show on Earth'
A campaign to sell London to the rest of the UK has kicked off under the banner 'The Greatest Show on Earth'.
Managed by London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau (LTB), on behalf of the Mayor's London Tourism Action Group (LTAG), the campaign aims to drive visits and overnight stays to London.
With funding of £500,000 and further private sector contributions, LTB says this is the largest domestic marketing campaign it has undertaken.
Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, says this is the second phase of funding from the £4m he secured for the recovery of London tourism: 'The theatre promotion has been a huge success - almost 47,000 tickets have been sold. Now visitors to London can benefit from these great offers on hotels, attractions, restaurants and travel.'
Consumers are directed to the LTB's website, www.londontouristboard.com, which contains a range of offers for hotels, attractions and restaurants. Thistle and Radisson Edwardian hotels are commercial partners, offering rooms at competitive rates.
The UK-wide, mixed media campaign runs until mid-March 2002.
