London Zoo opens human enclosure
London Zoo launched its first ever Human Zoo exhibit over the recent bank holiday weekend, 26-29 August.
Eight volunteers, chosen via a competition on the Zoological Society of London’s website, were displayed on Bear Mountain wearing nothing but fig leaves.
The selected humans, who were mainly in their twenties, were cared for by experienced keepers and kept entertained with games, music and art, although they were allowed home at the end of every day.
The Human Zoo aimed to demonstrate the basic nature of man as an animal and examine the impact human beings have on the rest of the animal kingdom. Details: www.zsl.org
