The American concert venue giant, AEG, which owns the O2 Arena in Greenwich, is up for sale, which could see the break up of the group. Anschutz Entertainment Group, owned by Anschutz Company, is the world’s second largest concert ticket and live music company.
AEG has transformed the beleagured Millennium Dome into a 20,000-seat arena and shopping complex, which measured by ticket sales, is the most popular music venue in the world.
AEG also owns concert venues in Berlin, New York, Shanghai and Sydney and the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team (home to David Beckham) and the Los Angeles Kings ice hockey team.
Corporate advisor, Blackstone, is working on the sale, which is speculated to be worth $7bn (£4.25bn, 5.4bn euros).
